Intellectual Property Policy
How ownership and licensing of code, content, and design work between Purnavix and our clients.
This Intellectual Property Policy explains, in general terms, how Purnavix approaches ownership and licensing of the material involved in our projects — our own materials, materials our clients provide, project deliverables, and third-party components. Ownership and licensing for a specific project is ultimately set out in that project's proposal or signed agreement, which this policy does not override.
01 — Overview
A typical Purnavix project brings together several categories of material: things we already owned before the project, things you provide to us, the custom work we produce for you, and third-party or open-source components we use to build it. Each is treated differently, as described below.
02 — Purnavix-Owned Materials
The Purnavix website itself, our brand, our marketing content, and any general-purpose tools, frameworks, components, or code we developed independently of a specific client project (whether before or outside that project) remain the property of Purnavix, whether or not they are also used within a client's project.
03 — Client-Provided Materials
Any content, data, logos, images, or other material you provide to us for your project remains your property (or that of your licensor). By providing it to us, you grant Purnavix the right to use it for the purpose of delivering your project, and you confirm that you are entitled to provide it to us for that purpose.
04 — Project Deliverables
Ownership of the custom deliverables we create specifically for your project — such as bespoke design work, custom-written code, or content produced for you — is set out in your project's proposal or agreement. Where that agreement is silent, our general position is that, once you have paid for the work in full, you receive the rights necessary to use the deliverable for the purpose it was built for; this does not automatically transfer ownership of pre-existing Purnavix tools, components, or code used within it, which remain licensed for use as part of your project rather than owned by you outright, unless the project agreement expressly says otherwise.
05 — Pre-Existing Purnavix Code and Components
Where we use our own pre-existing code, components, frameworks, or internal tools to build your project more efficiently, that underlying pre-existing material remains our property. You receive the right to use it as part of your delivered project, but it is not transferred to you as a standalone asset unless specifically agreed.
06 — Third-Party and Open-Source Components
Many projects rely on third-party libraries, plugins, or open-source components. These remain governed by their own respective licences (for example, an open-source licence or a commercial plugin licence), which continue to apply to your project independently of this policy. You are responsible for complying with those licence terms on an ongoing basis after project handover.
07 — Fonts, Stock Assets and Licensed Material
Where a project uses licensed fonts, stock photography, icon sets, or similar assets, those remain subject to the terms of their original licence. Where such a licence is tied to Purnavix's own account rather than transferable to you, we will let you know so you can obtain your own licence if you need continued use beyond the project.
08 — Portfolio and Display Rights
Unless you ask us not to, we may reference completed projects — including a general description of the work and non-confidential visuals such as screenshots — in our portfolio and marketing materials to showcase our work. We do not disclose confidential business information about your project in doing so.
09 — Your Responsibility When Supplying Content
You are responsible for ensuring that any content, brand assets, or data you supply to us for use in your project does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
10 — Reporting Infringement
If you believe content on our website or in a project we have delivered infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact us at contact@purnavix.com with details so we can look into it.
11 — Contact Us
Questions about intellectual property ownership on a specific project should first be checked against that project's proposal or agreement, or sent to contact@purnavix.com.
